Russ Johnson, M.D. Ph.D.
D. Russell Johnson M.D., Ph.D. grew up in Ohio and attended Ohio State University. Upon graduation in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry, Dr. Johnson spent a year in the laboratory of Dr. Deborah Parris studying the human herpes virus. The subject of study and the experience of working with Dr. Parris crystallized Dr. Johnson's interest in medicine.

In 1989, Dr. Johnson was selected for the National Institute of Health Medical Scientist Training Program. The specialized fellowship allowed
Dr. Johnson to simultaneously pursue graduate research studies and his medical degree. While enrolled in this program, he published eleven original articles resulting from the identification and cloning of genes involved in regulation of cellular processes necessary for replication of the human immunodeficiency virus (H.I.V.). In 1993, Dr. Johnson was named
Spencer T. and Anne W. Olin Fellow in recognition of his research efforts. Two years later, Dr. Johnson received the Phillip Needleman Award for outstanding research in pharmacology.

Dr. Johnson was awarded his Ph.D. and M.D. degrees in 1995. Following completion of an internal medicine internship at Barnes Hospital,
Dr. Johnson performed residency training in Dermatology at Washington University. While there, Dr. Johnson obtained intensive experience in medical and surgical dermatology and was awarded the European Academy of Dermatology Fellowship in 1998.

After completion of residency and obtaining board certification in Dermatology, Dr. Johnson served as clinical instructor at Washington University and St. Louis Children's Hospital.

Dr. Johnson joined Whidbey Dermatology in 1999, assuming the practice from Dr. Rita Lloyd, and founded
Island Medical Spa shortly thereafter. Dr. Johnson is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery, American Society of Mohs Surgery, and American Contact Dermatitis Society.

Corinne Sayler
Corinne Sayler is a Physician's Assistant and member of the American Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. Corrine obtained her Bachelor' of Science degree at the University of Washington, continuing at Union College In Lincoln, Nebraska completing the Physician Assistant Program. Corrine worked with Dr. Johnson from 2004 to 2006, and returned to the area to rejoin Whidbey Dermatology and Fidalgo Dermatology in 2008.

Corinne enjoys the outdoors with her husband Kevin, and spends time hiking, kayaking, and running.

Trish Archibald
Trish began her involvement in skin care with a ten year career in Massage Therapy. While working for several premier spas in the Bay Area she continued her massage training in modalities such as Sports Massage, Cranial Sacral, Reflexology, Shiatsu, and prenatal. A course in Lymphatic Drainage with the Vodder Institute in Canada began a new path. With this new training, she affiliated with a plastic surgeon in San Fransisco, providing Lymphatic Drainage treatments for his pre- and post- surgery patients. In an effort to better help her patients care for and protect their skin, Trish pursued aesthetic training and became a certified licensed Aesthetician in 2002.

In 2003 Trish and her husband John moved from California to Anacortes Trish joined the staff at Island Medical Spa and as director over the past 5 years has helped establish Island Medical Spa as the premier medical spa in the North Puget Sound Region. Trish has been instrumental in the design and implementation of the New Island Medical Spa.

Trish's other interests include her two dogs and volunteering with animal shelters. She also volunteers with the annual "Bark in the Park" event in Anacortes to bring the Anacortes Dog Park to reality. Always interested in anything creative, Trish loves gardening, beading, knitting, glass and ceramic projects. Through her husband's business, Johnny Picasso's, she is able to entertain the artist inside.

Kristy Anderson

Kristy Anderson is a Registered Nurse with over eleven years of healthcare experience. She has specialized in dermatology for the last five years, developing expertise in clinical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. Kristy has trained extensively with Board Certified Plastic Surgeons and Dermatologists throughout the country and has extensive training in advanced injection techniques. Kristy performs non-surgical rejuvenation treatments including Radiesse, Juvederm, and Botox.

Kristy resides on Whidbey Island with her husband and two sons.

Ludmila Mayhew
Ludmila is a graduate from the esteemed Euro Institute of Skin Care, receiving her credentials in 2000. Prior to obtaining licensure as an aesthetician, Ludmila managed with Lancome for six years in Princeton, New Jersey. Following her experience with Lancome, Ludmila worked for two years with Gene Juarez Salon and Spa in Seattle. Ludmila joined Island Medical Spa in 2001, and has vast experience administering laser treatments and developing personalized skin care regimens for clients. Ludmila specializes in facial treatments including chemical peels and microdermabrasion, as well as providing client education about management of maturing skin.

Ludmila enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

JoEllen Kesti
Lacey Lang
Lacey graduated from Seattle's Greenwood Academy. Her interests in health and beauty began while working at Carla's Shear Inspiration in Oak Harbor. Born and raised on Whidbey Island, Lacey absolutely loves working at Island Medical Spa and continues to expand her experience in the aesthetic field. Working alongside Dr. Johnson since May of 2005, Lacey utilizes the latest medical technologies to achieve exceptional results for her clients. Lacey enjoys the opportunity to educate her patients in selecting appropriate products to achieve beautiful healthy skin.

Lacey enjoys her off-work hours by spending time with her husband and family.

Cynthia Phelps
Cynthia is a graduate of the Euro Institute of Skin Care. She graduated and received her license to practice aesthetics in 2006. While attending the Euro Institute, Cynthia studied many aspects of aesthetics, both traditional and holistic and worked with many different modalities in regards to skin rejuvenation, detoxifying the body and stimulation to promote healing. She received certifications in Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Microdermabrasion, and Cosmetic Peels. Other special areas of studies were on high frequency treatments, galvanics treatments, LED light therapy, Knieipp Therapy and Nutrition.

Prior to becoming an Aesthetician, Cynthia was a personal trainer and fitness instructor for 15 years. Her passion for skin care fit with her long career in the health and fitness industry. Upon retirement from the fitness industry, Cynthia naturally chose to continue her health career in Aesthetics.

Cynthia enjoys solving her clients skin dilemmas. Finding just the right skin care regimen and products based on the clients skin type, lifestyle, and goals is really rewarding work. She loves to do facial treatments and all aspects of laser treatments. Cynthia is a native of Washington. Her childhood home was the same house her mom grew up in and attended the same high school as most of her relatives. She has a twin brother, Scott and an older sister, Kristen.

When Cynthia is not enjoying her work she loves to do anything creative like interior design and jewelry making. She is an avid workout enthusiast and loves to read and write. She has a soft spot for all types of animals and has a 14-year-old kitty named Mercybelle.

Jessica Wiseman
Jessica Baldwin has been practicing massage for more than four years after receiving her education from Ashmead College in Everett, Washington. Jessica continued her education at The Cortiva Institute, studying different types of massage modalities.

Her specialties include: Deep Tissue, Swedish, Prenatal and Hot Stone Massage. Jessica also thoroughly enjoys the variety of body treatments she is able to offer at Island Medical Spa including Mud Wraps, Salt Scrubs, and Aromatherapy wraps. Jessica knew that massage was to be her career path since the age of twelve. Her greatest reward is the satisfaction of providing people the gift of relaxation, overall health, and to help facilitate the body's healing from pain. Jessica grew up in Burlington, and now resides in Mount Vernon.

She enjoys living in the Northwest, as her favorite hobbies involve being outdoors. Jessica and her husband, Travis, are avid campers and love to fish. They also enjoy time taking their puggle dogs Fletcher and Ellie to the lake for a swim on warm summer days.

Elizabeth Little

Elizabeth attended Ashmead College and received her LMP in 2006. She completed her internship in sports massage. Her mother, who is also a massage theraptist, was a strong influence and provided much guidance. Massage therapy allows Elizabeth to be involved in peoples lives in a caring capacity. She appreciates that massage offers a means for natural healing for the mind and body. Elizabeth derives particular gratification in helping clients who are experiencing discomfort and stress, helping them identify the source, and working towards a resolution. Elizabeth specializes in deep tissue treatment.

Elizabeth had the opportunity to see much of the United States coming from a military family. She has lived in Oak Harbor since 2000. Here, she met and fell in love with her husband and married in June 2005. Elizabeth enjoys spending her leisure time working out. She enjoys being outdoors, spending time with her family, shopping, and cooking.

Carrie Bauer

Carrie graduated from Ashmead Massage College in 2005 with over 805 credited massage hours. She has continued her education by training in many different atmospheres. After offering massage in day spas for two years, Carrie decided to make the move to providing massage in a medical setting, which she has come to realize is the setting that fits her best.

Carrie had the opportunity to take part in an internship at Providence Hospital in Everett, WA. During the course of the internship she offered massage therapy to people with an array of different illnesses. She massaged patients with Cancer, HIV/AIDS, as well as the terminally ill. She spent most of her internship at the Providence Women and Children's Pavilion massaging laboring women. Being in the room with women in labor led Carrie to find her passion.

Carrie pursued opportunities to further her knowledge in prenatal and infant massage. She currently has thirty-two hours of continuing
education in pre- and perinatal massage. Carrie has a four-year-old little boy who keeps her on her toes.

Marianne Johnson

Marianne began working at her family's real estate business throughout high school and college, learning the importance of quality customer service and building long-lasting positive relationships with clients.

Upon graduation from University of Oregon with a degree in Psychology, Marianne launched into a seventeen-year career in social services and organizational management. She has experience in mental health service delivery, emergency room coordination, and most recently managing a housing program for people living with HIV.

Marianne applies her limitless energy and organizational management skills to providing excellent customer service. She is excited to work with Island Medical Spa to create the ultimate spa experience.

Katy Bennett

Katy Bennett is a long time resident of Whidbey Island and has enjoyed seeing the many positive changes this beautiful Island has taken over the years. Katy brings over fifteen years experience in sales, retail, customer service, and art design to Guest Reception of Island Medical Spa. Katy is excited to use her wealth of experience working with the public throughout her career to ensure the ultimate spa experience for each guest of Island Medical Spa.

Katy has been lucky enough to spend her spare time traveling, remodeling her home, and working on her latest art project, all while raising her two daughters.

Marshall Brooks

Having grown up in a Navy family, Marshall recently moved back to Washington after graduating from Nile C. Kinnick High School, in Yokosuka, Japan. He has been a classical vocalist and trombonist for ten years, and more recently an avid photographer, and he hopes to keep the arts an important part of his life.

Marshall is in his second year at Skagit Valley College and currently considering the field of Psychology.

Emily Dickman

Emily is a long time resident of Skagit County. Upon graduation from Sedro-Woolley High School in 2000, she decided to further her education and pursue a career in aesthetics. She chose an accredited facility in Wenatchee, The Academy of Hair Design, so she could be close to her mothers' side of the family.

Emily chose her career in aesthetics to coincide with her own personal beliefs in health and beauty. As her experience and knowledge developed, she found that medical aesthetics challenged her skills and gave her the greatest fulfillment. Her passion is driven from the results-oriented treatments that she offers to her patients, as well as knowing that she is making a positive impact on their lives.

She regularly attends training seminars to keep up on the latest technology; therefore she can treat clients with the most updated information, resulting in the best overall treatment. She strongly believes that one can never have too much knowledge, and is blessed to be in an industry where technology is continually changing, giving her the opportunity to continue with her education.

In her extra time she enjoys spending time outdoors with her kids. She has two boys, Quinten, 11, and Porter, 2 years, as well as an 8 month baby girl, Lyla. Quinten keeps busy with sports; baseball, football, and wrestling. He enjoys spending his free time with Grandpa Gary and Uncle Christoffer who often take him to "the property" to check on the animals and to hunt birds and small game. Porter is a very active little boy. Whether he's trying to show you how well he can jump, his latest facial expression, or newest noise he's developed, he's sure to keep whoever is around him with a smile on their face. Lyla is speed crawling in order to keep up with her brothers and will soon be running alongside Porter.

Emily has always been an avid cook that enjoys preparing healthy and creative meals for family and friends.

April Lissner

April Lissner was born and raised in Bellingham, Washington. For the last 10 years she has been travelling all over the United States as a military wife. April has two children, a seven year old son Kaleb, and four year old daughter Emily. April has been attending the University of Phoenix for over three years and is about to graduate with her BA in Business Marketing and a Minor in Business Management. Art, music and literature are also of interest in her continuing education.

In April's spare time she enjoys working out, travelling and spending as much time as possible with her friends and family.

Farrah Manning

Farrah Manning graduated from the Euro Institute of Skin Care in 2002. After graduation, she completed advanced training in Scottsdale with the Arizona Skin Cancer Clinic, as well as with Plastic Surgeon Daniel L. Shapiro, MD FACS. She finished her time there with a certification in Permanent Make-up and Skin Camouflaging. Farrah worked for the next 7 years with plastic surgeon Maher M. Anous, MD, FACS, in his Everett and Kirkland offices. There she specialized in laser treatments, chemical peels, and skin care regimens. She also assisted Dr. Anous in all aspects of plastic surgery from consultations, patient care coordinating, surgery, and follow-ups. Her knowledge in this area is a great asset when assessing patients and helping them to reach their realistic goals.

Farrah was born and raised on Whidbey Island and finds her connection within the community as vital to her role with the spa. When not working, she enjoys traveling, time spent with family and friends, and working on her true passion, her creative side, which includes event/wedding planning as well as interior design.
